PINYON Opens New York Office
Pinyon Environmental Engineering Resources, Inc., (Pinyon), a woman-owned consulting firm based in Lakewood, Colo., has opened the New York branch office on Aug. 1, 2006. Georgeanna “Georgie” Lynch, a hydrogeologist and New York native who has been with Pinyon for five years, manages the Saratoga Springs, N.Y., office. |

Pinyon focuses on assessments, investigations, and remediation of hazardous waste and petroleum hydrocarbon sites throughout the nation. | Lauren E. Evans., PE, and Pinyon president, started the company in Lakewood, Colo., in 1993. The 15-member staff consists of professional engineers, geologists, biologists, environmental scientists, and administrative personnel. In addition to New York, Pinyon expects to serve clients in Rhode Island, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. | |
Evans, a native of Pennsylvania who has family ties in the Scranton area, is excited to be opening an office in that part of the country. “It’s an invigorating new chapter for Pinyon,” she said. “We look forward to broadening our capabilities, and better serving our clients at their East Coast locations.” |

| Lynch has extensive project management experience and has worked in environmental consulting for seven years. She has been at the forefront of many of Pinyon’s transportation projects, overseeing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process for tasks including wetlands, biological assessments, and cultural resources. Lynch has strong experience with site assessments, ground-water modeling, hazardous waste and spills, and health and safety. During her undergraduate program, she was heavily involved in mapping the wetlands and watersheds of the Adirondack Park in New York. Lynch earned two bachelors degrees, in geology and environmental science, from State University of New York (SUNY) Plattsburgh, and earned a masters degree in environmental science and engineering from the Colorado School of Mines (CSM). Ms. Lynch is also a New York certified asbestos inspector. | |
| “It has been my intention and goal to eventually return to New York,” Lynch said. “I feel the new office is an important factor in the evolution of the company. Pinyon will bring a new perspective and innovative ideas to an existing environmental market.” | |
